Give them frequent baths to cool them down. It'll be over soon.

Should have listened to my girlfriend and bought an AC unit weeks ago. Hoping for some units to show in Vancouver area, but seems unlikely it'll be possible to snag one...
I guess the moral is listen to your SOs!

Living in Alberta I laughed at AC.
Count me in as those looking for a portable unit.
I suspect hot summers are here to stay.

Worker send this, it funny. Look at 15 min 50 sec. Family live in store with air conditioning.

I read the temperature won't go down until the middle of next week. You're right, the only way to cool down at home is to take a cold shower. I've taken two already today.

The climate is definitely changing. This is the last summer I'm going to go through with no AC.

Karma for Albertans who think oil is the only way to have an economy.

And BC is suffering because of it. If June is this hot, I can only imagine what July and August will be.

That's not all Albertans. Just the loudest. I hope this reign of conservative idiocy comes to an end soon.

Hopefully someone can answer about this specific model but I'd be willing to bet it doesn't need draining except maybe at the end of the season before storing it.
Your experience will vary from mine, but I've had to drain my unit twice now. Each time I drained it, about a half to one cup of water was drained. I emptied it into a baking pan but didn't measure the water, so this is my eyeball estimate.
The unit has been on since Thursday June 24. It's on cool mode, operating at highest fan speed during the day and medium at night. Using all three panels to connect hose to a sliding patio door. The seal isn't the best right now, but I don't feel any noticeable hot air leaking in. But maybe the poor seal means the intake is taking some of the hair that is being exhausted since the hose in hose design makes the two in close proximity.
I live in a condo in Richmond, east facing. It's a definitely humid, more so than usual.

So with an intake temperature of 42c the poor Danby can only cool down to 26c. It's been a real challenge to keep cool in the afternoon-sunset but it's been working like a champ - super happy I picked it up.

I'm surprised you've given up for the year so quickly... Who knows what kind of hell is yet to come.
Let's also not forget that forest fires are a thing and can wreck our air quality in the coming weeks too. Might want to get ahead of the scalpers on buying air purifiers.

Not surprise. I've watched a news report this week where they said that sells of AC in the east of Québec were hight since a few years. Places like Rimouski and such. Something you wouldn't think of years ago.
Pourquoi pas?

I'm not really one to deal with the Black Friday type crowds. It sounds like our last reasonable chance was maybe on the 22nd or 23rd if you headed out in the morning. Having some regrets for not trying and relying on the online order even if it was $100 off.
We might have a chance to nab one before summer is over and be ready for another heat wave this year and for the future years to come...
I used some cardboard and foil to block out some windows, created a bit of a wind tunnel with some fans, and I'm wearing damp shirts. Hitting about 32C inside during the day and around 30C at night. Saw some people were hitting as high as 42C inside their bedrooms which sounds absolutely insane.
The AC scalpers are probably the same scum that bought up all the face masks and sanitizer at the start of the pandemic.
Yup. Can't even find a standard floor standing fan in stock... Ordered a fan for delivery from WM next week.
Probably can't find an AC until the season is over
