Scenario on cost to operate under tier 1 in BC Hydro rate:
It was pulling 1,247W under Auto Mode for a set temp of 20C. So far operating for 4 minutes as it cools the room.
As mentioned earlier, tier 1 cost $0.12/hr to operate at max wattage and tier 2 is $0.18/hr at max wattage.
I just wanted to double check how this AC was operating for a few minutes and will check again as the room cools what new wattage it might be pulling.

Tired to search the thread but came up empty.
Could someone do me a huge favour and measure the length of the cord? I bough a LG one from Home Depot and the cord was super short and with an older house, there are no plug-ins by the window . TIA!

Just wanted to say that I was driving by and saw a UPS truck with at least three of these in the back in the Burnaby area. I envy you!

As both my AC are tucked in the corner, I didn't want to move and disrupt the massive hoses. I roughly measured it to be at least 72"/6ft on a 14AWG cord. I actually purchased a 3-set 14AWG/6ft extension cord just for this appliance and it works without any detected heat on the cords.
This is what I got and can take 1,875W.

Room humidity is around 50% according to my smart thermostat. I'm located in the GVRD area and outdoor temperatures have been pretty mild lately. The room temperature when the AC is off is around 26-27C.
I've done the same thing but for more than a few days... Used it for that long repeatedly for over a week and never used the drain ports. The evaporation feature is great on this thing. My tenant uses the same A/C and he does use a hose and a small bucket. It barely gives off any water but because the drain is open, it definitely does release some water. If you're that paranoid about it then definitely use a big bucket and watch it. Mine is on laminate h/w type of flooring and I'm going to take my chances.

The Ac are back in stock at local Costco ( edmonton). Would it be wise to cancel the online order and buy from local store
If I buy from local store, how can I stop the online shipment ?
Keep both. Wait for the next heat wave with the smoke in the air and stores out of AC.
Flip one for $800.

As for myself, I had a local acrylic fabricator specifically cut plexiglass according to my window size and do laser cut out for the two Danby I purchased. Here's how mine looks like for them to custom cut.
Did you by chance go to North Shore Plastics for yours?

I fired mine up after about 3 hours. No weird noises or anything and the air is coming out cold, guess I didn't break the unit by turning it on a little early.

There's also Associated Plastics in Vancouver too. Ask for Roham. He's the person that helped me
Depending on your location.
The 1st pic - from Dud/Lemon Danby from Costco (returned)
2nd pic - Midea from Rona, same cutout

Would a polystyrene board hold up to the heat of the hose vent? I’d like to eventually do the insulation board but we have the polystyrene already at home so I was thinking of using that for now. Similar to this: https://canada.michaels.com/en/elmers-f ... 10205.html

Would do a search on top right corner of this thread "casem*nt".
There's few people using insulation board from HomeDepot for their window cutout.

That would really depend on the size of the acrylic you need (which is of course the size of your window). To give you an idea, here is what's costing me:
1. 46.18" x 15.5" at 3/16 thickness - $133.24 for acrylic + Velcro ($22.50) + taxes
2. 38.625" x 20.25" - $140 for acrylic + Velcro ($22.50) + taxes
You can skip the Velcro if you have your own way of attaching it to your window.
Length of time was quoted 7-10 business days. I'll let you know how long mine actually took once received.
It would be cheaper to buy the acrylic from Home Depot and then do it yourself, but after watching a few videos on YouTube calling their handiwork a success - which was not - I opted to just have it professionally done. You will see videos of cracked acrylic, bad cutting, melting sides, etc.

What is holding the cut-out panel together with the main acrylic? Is it just a tape and was that done by Associated Plastics?
I have two big handles for the window that if I had to make a cutout, would allow air to escape. So my route was to remove the plexiglass after the season which is why I wanted a Velcro on them. But if they can make a cutout but still be attached with a pivot point to swing open and close, I might request them to do it.
Can you shed light on yours. Thanks.
