  • Dill Pickle Chips: You will need a 32 ounce jar of dill pickle chips. You could also use spheres as well.
  • Crushed Red Pepper: Crushed red pepper flakes will really help to bring the heat in this recipe for spicy pickles.
  • Pickled Jalapeños: For these hot and spicy pickles, you will need pickled jalapeños.
  • Garlic: You will need about 12 cloves of garlic sliced or minced.
  • Sugar: To add the sweetness to balance add out the spicy flavor, you will need white granulated sugar.

STEP 1: DRAIN PICKLES

First pour the liquid from dill pickles chips, making sure to reserve 1/4 cup of of the juice.

STEP 2: MAKE SWEET AND SPICY PICKLES

In a medium bowl, add the drained dill pickles chips, red pepper flakes, pickled jalapeños, garlic, and the reserved pickle juice. Then stir in the sugar. You can also add mustard seeds as well.

STEP 3: REFRIDGERATE PICKLES

Cover the bowl of pickles and refrigerate for 4 hours then take out and transfer to mason jars, place on the lids and keep in the fridge. This recipe will make approximately 3 pints.

  • 32 oz Dill pickle chips, not Kosher
  • 4 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
  • ¼ cup pickled jalapenos
  • 12 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 ½ cups sugar

Instructions

  • Drain pickles, making sure to reserve ¼ cup of the juice.

  • Place the drained pickles, red pepper flakes, pickled jalapenos and sliced garlic and reserved pickle juice in a bowl; Toss to combine.

  • Stir in sugar.

  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

  • After 4 hours, transfer the pickles to clean mason jars, or you can reuse the pickle jars.

  • Store in the refrigerator.
