  1. I should have read the last sentence first--Do not burn! These have to be watched--my oven did them in about 8 minutes. They are really delightful. I made them with bread triangles--next time I'll try English muffins. The topping was a bit liquid so I stuck them in the freezer to "flash freeze" for about 15 minutes and that worked well. I used dried minced onions as I didn't have fresh on hand. I'll definitely make these again (and maybe even experiment to see if I can freeze them). Thanks, Merlot, for a good, easy recipe!

  2. This is delicious when spread on the mini party ryes as well. Have done this for the last 30 years and it is always a hit!

  3. AMAZING... Made these for a football party and they went so fast I didn't even get them off the cookie sheet! I agree with the other comments: use english muffins (I used about a whole package), add more parmesan to make topping thicker (I used about 1/3 cup), and only 8 minutes in the oven. Perfect!

  4. Very good. After reading other reviews, I cut down the beer to 2 tablespoons. The result was a tasty, quick, easy, and mild appetizer. Will try again with ciabatta bread or English muffins. Thanks for posting.

  5. We really enjoyed this. So easy to put together. I too found the mixture was a little to thin so I added some additional parmesan and that worked well. Mine baked perfectly in 10 minutes. I used English muffins instead of bread slices, red onion which I'll use green onion next time and Corona beer. I might try spicing these up next time with some chopped jalapeno peppers. Thanks Merlot for a great recipe. Took them to the garage where several of the deer hunters were and they were gone in about 5 minutes. Thanks.
