Settlement payments are in the mail for six settlements with TransUnion, Panda Express and other companies resolving claims of false advertising and other wrongdoing.
Anheuser-Busch Ritas settlement payments
Top Class Actions readers reportedly have received payments from a class action lawsuit settlement with Anheuser-Busch resolving claims that its Ritas drinks don’t contain tequila or wine.
The settlement benefits consumers who purchased any Ritas products (margarita products, spritzers and more) between Jan. 1, 2018, and July 19, 2022.
According to the false advertising class action lawsuit, Aneheuser-Busch’s Ritas products don’t contain real tequila or wine as advertised. Instead, these alcoholic products are just “flavored beer,” the plaintiffs contend.
Anhueser-Busch agreed to a settlement to resolve the class action lawsuit. Under the settlement terms, claimants could receive up to $9.75 without proof of purchase or up to $21.25 with proof of purchase. Top Class Actions readers report receiving payments of up to $9.75 from this settlement.
The deadline to file a claim with the settlement was Dec. 16, 2022.
The Anheuser-Busch Ritas class action lawsuit is Browning, et al. v. Anheuser-Busch LLC, Case No. 20-cv-00889-SRB, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
TransUnion rental screening class action rebates
Top Class Actions readers received payments from a $11.5 million TransUnion settlement resolving claims that the credit bureau’s rental screening arm included inaccurate information in consumer reports.
The settlement benefits consumers for whom TransUnion Rental Screening Solutions reported a criminal record and/or landlord-tenant record to a third party since Nov. 7, 2016. The settlement also covers a number of subclasses of consumers whose TransUnion Rental Screening Solutions report contained certain types of inaccurate information.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim TransUnion included inaccurate information on their rental screening credit reports, causing them to be denied renting opportunities. TransUnion reports allegedly included false felonies, sex offenses and other records.
TransUnion agreed to pay $11.5 million to resolve the class action lawsuit. Under the settlement terms, consumers could receive a share of the settlement based on the inaccurate information their reports contained. Top Class Actions readers reportedly received payments of $172.19 from the TransUnion class action lawsuit settlement.
The deadline to submit a claim with the settlement was June 30, 2023.

Inventure Foods, TGI Friday’s false advertising settlement payments
Checks are in the mail from a class action lawsuit settlement resolving claims that TGI Friday’s frozen mozzarella sticks do not contain real mozzarella cheese.
The settlement benefits consumers who purchased TGI Friday’s Mozzarella Sticks Snacks, including TGI Friday’s Mozzarella Sticks Snacks Original, Mozzarella Sticks Snacks Original Flavor and Mozzarella Sticks Snacks Original Flavor Baked shelf-stable bagged snack-food products from Jan. 1, 2017, to July 31, 2022.
According to the false advertising class action lawsuit, TGI Friday’s Mozzarella Sticks Snacks sold by Inventure Foods do not contain real mozzarella cheese as advertised. Consumers claim they were tricked into overpaying for the products based on these false promises.
Inventure Foods agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve the allegations. Under the settlement terms, class members could receive up to $6. Top Class Actions readers reportedly received electronic payments of up to $6 from this settlement.
The deadline to file a claim with the settlement was Sept. 25, 2023.
The TGIF Fridays false advertising class action lawsuit is Joseph v. Inventure Foods Inc., Case No. 1:21-cv-01340, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division.
Panda Express delivery fees class action settlement payments
Only months after the claim deadline, payments are in the mail for a $1.4 million Panda Express settlement resolving claims that the restaurant charged illegal service fees on delivery orders.
The settlement benefits consumers who placed a delivery order through Panda Express’ website or mobile app between July 17, 2020, and Feb. 16, 2022, and were charged a service fee in connection with their order.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Panda Express charged unexpected service fees on delivery orders. The fast food chain allegedly misled consumers about the delivery fees and related expenses they would pay when ordering online.
Panda Express agreed to pay $1.4 million to resolve the class action lawsuit. Under the settlement terms, class members could receive a cash payment or product vouchers. One reader reported a payment of $10.47 from the Panda Express class action lawsuit settlement.
The deadline to file a claim with this settlement was Jan. 10, 2024.
The Panda Express delivery fees class action lawsuit is Ross, et al. v. Panda Restaurant Group Inc., et al., Case No. 21STCV03662, in the California Superior Court for Los Angeles County.
Washington Department of Licensing data breach settlement checks
Top Class Actions readers reported receiving payments from a $3.6 million class action lawsuit settlement resolving claims that the Washington Department of Licensing failed to protect consumers from a 2022 data breach.
The settlement benefits individuals whose personal information was compromised in the 2022 data breach disclosed by the Washington State Department of Licensing in February 2022.
According to the class action lawsuit, Washington’s Department of Licensing failed to prevent a data breach that compromised sensitive information, including Social Security numbers. Plaintiffs in the case argue the licensing department could have prevented the breach by implementing reasonable cybersecurity measures.
The Washington Department of Licensing agreed to pay $3.6 million to resolve the class action lawsuit. Under the settlement terms, claimants could receive up to $7,500 in reimbursem*nt along with other benefits. One Top Class Actions reader reportedly received $200.34 from this settlement.
The deadline to submit a claim with the settlement was Oct. 9, 2023.
The Washington Department of Licensing data breach class action lawsuit is Garcia, et al. v. Washington Department of Licensing, Case No. 22-2-05635-5 SEA, in the Washington Superior Court for King County.
Lithium-ion batteries antitrust class action rebates
A second round of checks is in the mail from a $64.45 million antitrust class action lawsuit settlement regarding lithium-ion batteries.
The settlement benefited consumers who purchased laptops, camcorders, cordless power tools or other items that contain lithium-ion batteries since 2000.
Plaintiffs in the antitrust class action lawsuit accused the world’s largest lithium-ion battery manufacturers of conspiring to raise and fix the price of certain batteries. This scheme allegedly allowed manufacturers to overcharge consumers for over a decade.
An initial round of payments was sent out in June 2023, providing payments of up to $3,454.23. A second round of payments is in the mail to distribute residual settlement funds to certain consumers. Top Class Actions readers report receiving prepaid cards worth up to $1.29 from the second distribution of the antitrust class action lawsuit settlement.
The deadline to file a claim with the settlement was July 19, 2019.
