Easy Gnocchi in Brown Butter Sage Sauce

Cade here, and today is all about me and this 10-Minute Gnocchi in Brown Butter Sage Sauce. I mean, not really, but gnocchi is my favorite thing ever. In fact, I think when we were in Italy I ordered it at least once a day. Carrian started it, she introduced me to gnocchi by text as we were chatting about what to make for dinner while I was at work.

We are really excited to have teamed up with Walmart to chat about Sam’s Choice Italia Gnocchi and you’re going to love it!

If you don’t already know, gnocchi is my weakness and I’m pretty picky about it as it’s easy to get served poor quality gnocchi. We bought a whole bunch of brands and were pleasantly surprised with the quality and assortment of Sam’s Choice Italia Gnocchi! It’s hand crafted in Italy just for Walmart which means that there’s not only pride in the work, as we know all Italians care greatly about their food, but there’s also attention to detail as the texture is spot on. How to Make Sage Butter Gnocchi

This fresh sage and brown butter gnocchi is a cinch to make! Here’s how we make this recipe:

  1. Heat a sauté pan over medium heat with all of the butter in it. Cook for about 5 minutes, at which point the butter should be foaming.

  2. Turn the heat to medium high and continue to whisk or stir the butter so solids don’t stick to the bottom of the pan. Watch the butter continuously as it can suddenly burn.

  3. Meanwhile, fill a saucepan with water and turn the heat to medium high. Once boiling, salt the water and add the gnocchi, giving it a quick stir once it’s in the water. Cook for 1 minute and drain in a colander.

  4. Once it begins to turn amber in color, throw in the gnocchi, sage and stir to combine. Turn the heat to medium and cook until the gnocchi is crisp.

  5. Serve on a platter with a dash of salt and pepper grated parmesan cheese.

Tips for Making Gnocchi in Brown Butter Sage Sauce

  • Use unsalted butter so you can control the amount of salt in this dish.
  • I recommend using a light colored skillet so you can clearly see when the butter begins to brown. You don’t want to burn it!
  • If you do wind up burning the butter (oops!), you’ll need to dispose of it, clean the skillet, and try again. Burnt butter is incredibly bitter and can’t be saved.
